Avery has reached yet another milestone...sleeping in a "big girl" bed. About a week ago, we set up Avery's new bed in her room to get her used to it being in there before we tried to make her sleep in it. However, once nap time came, she was insistent on sleeping in the new bed instead of her crib. I was really concerned about all the times she was going to get up and wander out of her room or all of the things that she would get into in her room. However, I was really surprised when nap time went off without a hitch. She has continued to go to bed without any problems...it's like there is some sort of invisible toddler fence around her bed that she can't cross once it's bedtime. It's actually pretty wonderful.
So, with Avery's sudden and unexpected independence, I didn't get a chance to sneak into her room and take any last pictures of her sleeping in her crib. We put her in it during the day to just get a couple of last pictures before we took it down. I think she's going to miss being able to jump in her crib, and that's probably all.
While I didn't catch her last time sleeping in her crib, I did get a couple of pictures of her sleeping in her new bed for the first time. She's hilarious with her bedtime routines. She insists on having her four, yes I said four, baby dolls, her Mickey Mouse, her blankie, and a stack of books that varies in size depending on the day. Once Jeremy and I leave the room (after reading to her for 20-30 minutes), she lays in her bed and "reads" to her dolls...it's hilarious to listen to over the monitor. Once she falls asleep, I then sneak into her room and make her bed a little more sleeping friendly, removing the books and babies.
Last night, she decided that Jeremy needed to sleep on the floor beside her bed. In case you can't tell, the space between her bed and dresser is quite small, but Jeremy managed to squeeze in there while we read books. Then Avery decided that she should lay down there as well. They were so cute squeezed in there, that I had to take a picture.
