Thumb or Pacifier?

One of the great debates in the family if whether Avery will be a thumb-sucker or not. As we all know, she has a couple of relatives (that will go un-named so as to save their embarrassment) that sucked their thumbs until quite an advanced age--and maybe even one that continues to do so (again going un-named). So, as would be expected, Jeremy and I are pulling for the pacifier--something that can easily be thrown in the garbage when we are ready for her to be done with it. However, it seems that Avery may have different plans. We are in constant battle with her and her thumbs--pulling the thumbs out and putting the pacifiers in.
