Jeremy's brother, Nic, is getting married this summer, and Avery and I attended a girls' luncheon for his fiance, Brooke. It was Avery's first big get-together with a big group of people. She looked so cute, but wasn't super excited about the whole event--there were just so many people that she didn't know that she was so overwhelmed. We are looking forward to another opportunity to show people how wonderful she is without her being so overwhelmed.

So BIG
Avery hasn't been sleeping in her bassinet in our room since Memorial Day, but it is just amazing how much she has grown--so much so that I don't think she could sleep in it now. For those of you who haven't seen our bassinet in person, it is pretty amazing! It is kind of like a swing or hammock. The baby is inside it but is cradled so that they feel secure. It also rocks to help soothe them. We really like it!

Father's Day
Father's Day was quite successful. We made another trip to Clinton to celebrate with Jeremy's family. We had a nice visit with Grandpa and Grandma Cover. Avery even played with Grandpa for a little while, a nice Father's Day present. She also had a good time visiting with Aunt Chelsea, who once again tried to persuade her to become dependent on her thumbs--nice try Aunt Chelsea. As I looked through my pictures of Father's Day, I noticed that I only got one picture of Jeremy on his first Father's Day. As usual, Avery was the common denominator to the pictures (despite the fact that she is not in the one and only picture of Jeremy from the day).

New Toys
Avery got a couple of new toys today that she really seems to enjoy. She has really been chewing on things lately, so she put in a request with her Nana for a Taggie toy so that the chewing might be little more enjoyable. As usual, Nana came through with two new Taggies and another new colorful toy--someone is a little spoiled! Avery was so excited to get the package in the mail that she ripped right into it. Avery also started using her jumper this week. She isn't quite big enough to sit up in it so we have to prop her up with a blanket, but she can reach the floor. She bounces herself around quite happily and loves all of the toys that Jeremy has hung from the bars.

Year-Old Cake
I know that it is past our anniversary, but we didn't have our cake that day (it was being stored in Clinton for us for the last year). Jeremy picked it up last week when he was in town doing some work and decided that last night was the perfect time to dive in. I, however, decided to refrain from eating the year-old cake. He said that it was good, despite the fact that it didn't quite look the same. Avery thought that she might partake in the festivities as well. We decided that it wasn't such a good idea since the cake has been around longer than she has!
Thumb or Pacifier?
One of the great debates in the family if whether Avery will be a thumb-sucker or not. As we all know, she has a couple of relatives (that will go un-named so as to save their embarrassment) that sucked their thumbs until quite an advanced age--and maybe even one that continues to do so (again going un-named). So, as would be expected, Jeremy and I are pulling for the pacifier--something that can easily be thrown in the garbage when we are ready for her to be done with it. However, it seems that Avery may have different plans. We are in constant battle with her and her thumbs--pulling the thumbs out and putting the pacifiers in. So, we ask all of you guys-thumb or pacifier? Take the poll and let us know which one you think she will end up with. In the battle of wills, who will win Avery or Mom and Dad?
