It's Getting Hot in Here!

The heat has been absolutely ridiculous lately, which, unfortunately, means that we haven't been able to go outside much.  It's sad that I've been waiting for a day in the 90s to go outside with Avery.  Once we finally got one that cool, yes I said that cool, we all went outside and used every form of water that we could come up with to keep cool.

We filled up water balloons, which Avery promptly threw out the windows of her swing set.

We threw water balloons up the the slide and let them come back down and splash onto us...

...slid down the slide with water balloons...

...ran around the sprinkler with Dada...

...ran around the sprinkler without Dada...

...ran around the sprinkler with a baby...

 ...and ran through the hose.

We did our best to keep cool, but despite all these efforts it was still really  hot!

Fourth of July

For the Fourth of July, we went to Nana and Papa's house to enjoy the pool, the weather and the people.  Avery was a little apprehensive of the pool at first, but once we got her in, she loved it and was upset when we had to get out.

She was thoroughly entertained with some little fish that swim in the water and some cups that she went around giving everyone drinks from.  I love that it's so easy to entertain her and make her happy!

Perhaps the item at the very top of Avery's list to do at Nana and Papa's is feeding the horses.  Thank goodness Nana always has a supply of carrots ready for Avery.  She absolutely loves those horses, especially Oreo.  I'm pretty sure that she would be fine spending hours and hours outside just watching those horses.

Avery and I all decked out in our Fourth of July outfits.  Alright, Avery is wearing her Fourth of July outfit, and I'm just coordinating.

Beauty Night

Tonight was beauty night at the Cover house.  On the surface one might think that this would include some type of beauty regimen for the girls.  However, at our house that would be an incorrect assumption.  Beauty night at the Cover house consisted of the royal beauty treatment for Jeremy.  The night started off with Avery wanting her nails painted and quickly turned to her wanting to paint Jeremy's.  He agreed to get a pedicure (with little reluctance I might add).  Avery chose red polish.

She decided that since Jeremy's nails were kind of little, that she wouldn't paint only the nail.  Why stick to such a small area when there is such a large surface to work with.

Once the painting was all done, both Avery and Jeremy had trouble waiting for the polish to dry, so we used the hair dryer.  Do you think we have a problem with patience in our house?  Uh, yeah!  Notice, as well, that as opposed to looking painted, Jeremy's feet just look bloody!

After his pedicure, Jeremy was treated to a hair cut and style.  Avery had so much fun, and, for whatever reason, chose Jeremy to be the object of her beauty regimen.  I'm sure that this won't be the last beauty night for Jeremy, and I'm so grateful to have a husband that is willing to subject himself to such tortures for the joy of our daughter!
